Scandic Helsinki Hub Review: Superior Rooms, Breakfast, Recommend Cafe, Supermarket

We recently took a multigenerational family trip to Helsinki, Finland — 9 days of exploring this beautiful Nordic city with our daughter and grandparents!

For our first night in Helsinki, we stayed at Scandic Helsinki Hub, a modern hotel right in the city center. What surprised us most was the incredibly high ceilings — Helsinki hotel rooms tend to be on the smaller side, but the tall ceilings made the space feel really open and airy.

The room was spotlessly clean, the breakfast buffet was great, and the location was super convenient. Here’s our honest review!

Pros and Cons at a Glance

Pros:

  • Central location — walking distance to Fazer Cafe, Ekberg, and Kamppi Shopping Center
  • High ceilings give the room a spacious, open feel
  • Very clean and well-maintained
  • Good breakfast buffet with gluten-free and lactose-free options
  • Small kids’ play corner in the breakfast area
  • Playground (Old Church Park) right in front of the hotel
  • Luggage room available before check-in and after check-out

Cons:

  • Room size is not huge (our Superior Room felt around 30m²)
  • View depends on the room — ours was a building view
  • Amenities are basic (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner only — no cotton pads, etc.)
  • Standard check-in is 4:00 PM, which is quite late
