We took a multigenerational family trip to Helsinki in late August — a 9-day adventure!

For 6 of those nights, we decided to stay in an apartment. After searching through various options including Airbnb, we chose Bob W Helsinki City Centre. Since we were traveling as two households, we booked two rooms.

The location is great — about a 10-minute walk from Helsinki Central Station, with the Stockmann department store also within walking distance.

What makes Bob W Helsinki City Centre special? It comes with an in-room sauna! There are several Bob W apartments throughout Helsinki, but this is the only one with a private sauna.

In this review, we’ll cover everything — the löyly sauna, the kitchen, the washer-dryer, and how it all worked for our family stay!

Pros and Cons at a Glance

Pros:

  • Private sauna in the room — the only Bob W in Helsinki with this feature
  • Full kitchen with dishwasher, oven, 4-burner induction stove, and large fridge with freezer
  • Washer-dryer in the unit
  • Great central location — 10-min walk from Helsinki Central Station, close to Stockmann and tram stops
  • Spacious 42m² apartment with king bed and sofa bed
  • Self check-in with keypad — flexible arrival
  • 24-hour waste station in the basement

Cons:

  • No safe in the room
  • The nearby K-Supermarket was temporarily closed during our stay
  • Washer-dryer takes up to 6 hours on the combined wash+dry cycle — better to run them separately
  • Laundry detergent pods (only 4 provided) were not restocked after cleaning
  • Unmanned property — some may feel uneasy about security in the luggage room
